‘Data Science – Analytics’ is part of the Marketing Science team at Beamly that also includes Insight Analysts and Reporting Specialists. The team works closely with clients to deliver powerful insights about their consumers, their digital ecosystem, and their marketing strategy.

 As a Data Scientist – Analytics, you’ll be responsible for bringing together all of the data from across Beamly and using analytical and advanced modelling techniques to identify patterns and insights. Working closely with client stakeholders and the insight analysts, you’ll unpick client needs to identify how to approach the analysis. Then using your broad range of analytical skills, you’ll be able to find the right approach to the business problem at hand.

You’ll also work closely with internal Beamly stakeholders to understand their insight needs. From analysis of cross-client marketing strategy to product experiments and a/b tests, you’ll be able to use your analytical and inference skills to illuminate business decisions across Beamly.

For all the work we do in Marketing Science, we’re constantly looking for opportunities to automate and productionise so that our output can scale. Using your coding skills, you’ll be able to design and develop reproducible analysis that other members of the team are able to use.

As part of the Data Science Chapter, you’ll also be able to use your experience and knowledge of analysis and modelling in other areas of Beamly and to support fellow Data Scientists.

 

What you'll do

Analysis and Modelling

  • Use appropriate analysis techniques to identify patterns in consumer data, including regression, clustering, EDA, etc
  • Work with a variety of datasets including raw data collected from consumer experiences (1st party) and consumer attributes (3rd party)
  • Identify and investigate new analysis techniques that bring clear added value to our work
  • Work closely with the Media team to understand marketing performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Work with Beamly product team to run and analyse experiments
  • Work closely with Insight analysts to develop clear narratives around your analysis so that clients can understand and action the insights.
  • Understand business context and how to shape the analysis approach to provide clear insights and solutions 

Insights

  • Work closely with Insight analysts to develop clear narratives around your analysis so that clients can understand and action the insights.
  • Build scripted analysis that ensures work is reproducible and scalable
  • Ensure analysis is statistically robust and fully QA’d
  • Develop effective visualisations that help to explain and get to the heart of the insights

Communication

  • Be able to clearly explain the meaning of your analysis and the insights that can be taken from it.
  • Be able to explain the detail of analysis and the approach taken to client stakeholders
  • Work closely with other Data Scientists to develop new approaches and ensure a collaborative approach to analysis
  • Be an active part of the Data Science Chapter, contributing to the development of the discipline and growth of other Data Scientists

What you'll bring to the role

Required

  • Masters degree in a quantitative degree or computer science
  • Strong statistics and probability understanding
  • Experienced programmer in Python/R
  • Expert in SQL
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience decoding business problems and identifying potential analysis solutions 

Preferred

  • Experience working with insight & analytics in a large organisation
  • Experience with Beauty industry
  • PhD in a quantitative degree or computer science
  • Experience in any of the following a plus - natural language processing, Bayesian inference, econometric time series modelling
  • Experience working with marketing data
  • Experience dealing with large scale datasets
  • Worked in cloud ecosystem and dealt with large scale data (Spark, Qubole, Airflow, Kinesis, AWS)
